Wow our Asia travel agent and tour operator are awesome!

We paid Thurs. Today I got all the confirmation documents (10 documents with everything nicely laid out for the tours, some history of China and travel tips). It even appears we got the 8:10 a.m. flight from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh. I'm going to list the contact info here as folks on the Royal Princess World Cruise or even those on ours may want to book the Great Wall overland if they don't have plans for China since we all have to have our Chinese visas to get on the ship. Zenobia from Zen vacations was super easy to work with and easily handled any question or request. The materials we are getting from J Yang Tours are really well done. Kudos to them both!

I am very excited for you and this trip of a lifetime. We found your blog through cruise critic and my wife and I will be following your journey closely. While we are very excited about the ports we are also hoping you will often touch on daily observations of life on the ship. My wife and I are planning a world cruise and find it easy to find port/excursion info but not so easy to find info about daily life/people on the ship and how a world cruise differs from its shorter counterparts.

We are interested to know basic perhaps mundane things.
Basic daily life on board; do you feel bored or are there enough things to fill your day.
How widely do the ages of the passengers vary?
How groups are formed (politics, income, dinner seating, proximity, etc) and are people click-ish based on those criteria?
And most importantly dress. My wife is afraid she can’t pack enough clothes for 100 days without having 50 bags! (Slight exaggeration) She is very curious if people pack just 2, or 3 weeks of clothes and repeat them over and over. What about formal nights. We love to dress but can’t see packing enough formal wear for more than 2 weeks of variety.

Thanks again and I hope I didn’t make my post sound like a school assignment. 
We hope you have experiences and make memories on this journey that last a lifetime. Thank you for allowing us to follow along.

Hi Jay and Philly, so glad you are coming along.

The target audience for the blog is my fellow cruise critic members, people who are likely to plan a world cruise or people who would like to someday do a world cruise. Of course some of my friends and family are following along so I try to provide some cruising context for those who aren't part of cruise critic.

In writing this blog I'm taking the tact of addressing things as they come up to give more of the flavor of what it is like embarking on this adventure. This should provide some of what your interested in with respect to what it is like to be on board once we get there.

However, I decided to not comment on my fellow passengers. I made this decision as I know many of them are reading this blog and I wouldn't want someone commenting on me in their blog. So I won't be able to provide insight there.

And last but not least, I am an engineer and therefore will hardly notice what anyone wears. I'll be lucky if I notice what I myself am wearing. It's just the way I'm wired. However, I may be able to report on how many netbooks I've spotted on board. :-)

All I can say is WOW! What an adventure in store for you! I am about your age but don't see a window any time soon in my career field to pull this off. The most I've been able to do is a two week one here and there.

Soooo...I shall follow you and experience all of this vicariously which is definitely better than not at all.

Good luck with the packing and Bon Voyage!
