I then swung by the dingos, Tasmanian Devils and birds section before heading back to the city bus. The weather was really hot and humid and when I got back to the city I just did a little shopping before catching the last shuttle to the ship. The shopping area (Queen St. Mall) was extremely large and was a mix of discounters, high-end stores and everything in between.

Hi again. Really pleased to read that you made it to the Lone Pine Sanctuary. We spent a week in Brisbane a few years back and this was certainly one of the highlights for us. Did you get a picture taken holding a Koala? Still enjoying your daily blog and hearing about your day's activities on the ship. How are you doing with the food. Are they managing to keep the menus interesting or do they repeat themselves each week? Also, how many formal nights do you have on this cruise? Best wishes David
Enjoying your blog so much. I usually take ship tours, especially when I travel alone. I noticed you seem to go off on your own much of the time. Do you think you see more that way? Is it really easy to figure things out? I wish I was more adventurous. Thanks again.
David, we have 9 formal nights on the 107 day cruise. We are repeating the menu 3x over the 107 days. I did not get a picture holding a Koala but they sure were cute!
Blair, ship tours are a good option when traveling alone. It is not very safe to be out and about by yourself in a foreign country and too easy to stumble into a wrong area. Also putting together private tours can be pricey just for one. However with a group like cruise critic it makes it a little easier to meet people to do things with. There are pros and cons to each approach. You will see me more on ship tours as we get to more non-English speaking ports.
