Papeete - Ferry to Moorea

Today's stop was in Papeete. Our group decided to take the ferry to Moorea and visit a beach for swimming and snorkeling. There are 2 buildings that sell ferry tickets. We took the Aremiti. However, I recommend that others take the Moorea Express which was the second building (next to the Aremeti ticket office). The Aremeti was late and really cut into time on the island. We think the price was about $33 round trip and they took credit cards. On the island we caught a taxi for $20 each way to a beach. It was beautiful! The water was clear and warm. You could see fish through the crystal clear water. I snorkeled a little and saw some pretty fish.

Unfortunately due to the ferry schedule we only had about 75 min. at the beach as some had afternoon tours and I wanted to stop in town. I picked up a lovely flower arrangement for my room for $15.

After returning to the ship I got to see the folkloric show which was entertaining.

It was disappointing to have so little time on Tahiti after 5 days at sea. We had to be back at the ship at 4:30 which made for a relatively short day. I found an Internet cafe in town but there was a wait and no posted prices so I didn't make use of it.

The cruise critic board indicated that it was a good idea to give Papeete a pass. I would tend to agree. The best thing about it was the inexpensive beautiful flower arrangement. The market that sold these was very close to the ship and one could likely be picked up in less than 15 min.(including the walk from and back to the ship).

Hi. Recently found your blog and I am finding it very interesting. Really enjoying hearing what you/the ship are up to and viewing the excellent photos. I and my wife were on Tahitian Princess in October between Hawaii and Papeete. We spent two days in Papeete and enjoyed ourselves, but we felt that Moorea was our favourite island. I can't quite imagine spending 107 days on the ship, wonderful as she is! Look forward to your next posting. regards.

I am so glad that you got your flowers. They look just like the ones we had. They have so much color to the room. Yes you have to have more time in Tahiti but glad you got over to Moorea I just loved our stop there. Are you liking the food. This is the first thing I check out in the morring.
