Temple of Queen Hatshepsut

After the Valley of the Kings we were running a little late for the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut (pic. 1). Pic. 2 is of a carved bird at the base of the stairs from level two to level three. We spent some time on level two looking at the carvings and part of the temple off to the left where there were these interesting columns (pic. 3).

We only got to see two levels before they indicated they were closing but for $1 they let me run up to the third level to get some pics of the fabulous statues (pic. 2 & 3). The guy even came with me to point out the best paintings and carvings on the third level.

A $1 bill tended to get you access to just about everything. However the tourist police armed with guns were eager to get home. They had been on duty since 5 a.m. so I understood their desire. The area was heavily guarded because it had been an area where tourist were attacked by terrorists before.
