The rest of the caves

I also toured through the other 4 caves. Some had statues and were considered temples. Others were either for the monks or not finished as they were not as elaborate. There was speculation that they may have all been connected at one point.

On my way back to the shopping stairway I stopped at the museum which not only included information on the Elephanta island caves but also showed pictures of the other rock cut caves along the coast in India. Some of the carvings were far less damaged and spectacular!
