The Souk (market)

After the museum we drove to the souk where we were given an hour for shopping. This was a fun spot with lots of bargaining but much more low key than some locations. Pic. 1 is of the perfume shop where I got my frankincense perfume. Pic. 2 is of the clothing shops. Pic. 3 is of the beach that was about a block away. The beaches were beautiful! I did not see anyone swimming all day. We had been warned in our tour materials that the beaches were very unsafe with strong currents and sharp deep drop offs.

We got back on the bus and the guide announced it was back to the ship. We were quite astounded as the tour materials said we would also visit the Al Balid Archeological Site which were ruins on a waterfront, would see frankincense trees, a desert wadi and camels. On the drive we drove by some ruins, uncommented on by the guide, and probably saw frankincense trees but didn't know it. The landscape was desert interspersed by buildings but it wasn't that scenic of a drive. We got back about a half hour early. As I got off the bus I asked the guide what would be good to see if I came back out in the afternoon. He indicated Mughsail Beach and Job's Tomb.
