Atlantis Hotel

We headed down the trunk of the palm island. Apparently it has not been open long. About 40% of the residences are occupied. The residences on the man made palm island are very expensive however their prices have dropped about 40% since the financial crisis. In addition work on the second palm island has halted.

We only saw the world islands from afar. These are island build to resemble the shape of the world from the air. Some countries are purchasing their own islands and developing them true to their culture. When the development is done apparently there will be some parts that can be visited by the public and others that are private for the residents. It is a very interesting and creative concept.

At the top of the palm on the sea break is the Atlantis hotel (pic. 1). We entered to take a look but could only see the store area, aquarium and transition area. The hotel itself was reserved for guests. Pics. 2 and 3 are of the transition area to the shopping area. The decorations were very pretty. Pic. 4 is of the aquarium. Based on a seam in the glass it appeared that the glass was about a foot thick.
