Elephanta Island

We landed at Elephanta Island and boarded a train to take us along the long pier where the boats dock. Along the way we saw cows (pics. 1 & 2).

There was a long staircase to climb to get up to the area where the caves are. It was an easy walk because it was lined on both sides with vendors (pic. 3) so I went slow and shopped on my way up. In addition there were tarps covering the walkway which made it a little cooler. It felt like it was about 100 degrees out (I checked later and it was 105 degrees).

At the top of the walk near the caves there were many monkeys. If you looked like you had food at least one of the adult monkeys would charge you with a snarl to try and get to it. Thankfully we did not look like we had food. Pic. 4 is of a cute baby monkey having a snack.
