Step Pyramid excavation and tombs

Pic. 1 is of an excavation at the Step Pyramid. Apparently a tunnel was discovered. It is thought to potentially connect to the pyramid and work is going on to see if that is the case.

Pic. 2 is of the tombs around the pyramid. For a $ an Egyptian will take you through them and allow you to take pictures.

Pic. 3 is of the desert that you could see from the pyramid. Pyramids and tombs were located in the desert because the dry heat helped preserve the bodies.

The desert (pic. 4) was very intimidating to look at and contemplate crossing.
