Magic Mumbai
Pic. 1 shows the Mumbai port with the advertising tag line that I've become familiar with from TV ads, "Incredible !ndia". I set up a private tour with a company called Mumbai Magic. The guide walked right up to us as we got off the ship. After changing out some money at the pier we were off to our first stop, the Market. It was an amazingly beautiful structure, built as a market in 1868 (pic. 2 & 3). There were lots of interesting buildings built by the British during this time frame. We toured through and saw where the main fruit and vegetable commerce is done for the city (pic. 4). My friend bought a bag of curry. The market is primarily wholesale. The households have their daily fruits, vegetables, meats and dairy product brought right to their homes by intermediates who sell to the neighborhood. Pic. 5 shows the street scene out front of the market.
