Magical Cambodia

Upon arrival in the beautiful, tropical Siem Reap airport I was met by my tour guide and driver. I headed to the Angkor National Museum to get an orientation to what I would see at the temples in air conditioned comfort. I planned this stop first because it would be indoors and air conditioned which would be a relief after the oppressive hot weather that characterizes this time of year.

The displays at the Angkor National Museum have written information and are augmented by video presentations as you move through them. Time was a bit short so I didn't get to see all the multimedia presentations but I enjoyed the overview.

Then it was off to the hotel for check in. Check in was a relaxing experience as they sit you in the lobby, bring the paperwork to you, present you with a gift and offer cold water before taking you to your room. Dinner was an elaborate multi-course meal in their wonderful dining room. Despite a long hard day of travel I was feeling wonderfully relaxed and happy. The surroundings, starting from the airport, were so tropical and pleasant you felt like you were on holiday. Unfortunately I still had not shaken my cold. As a result, I did not make use of the beautiful pool or magnificent spa facilities but went to bed early to rest up for the next day. The room was magnificent and I slept well.
